14th Sunday After Trinity

September 13th, 2020

This order of service is based on Matins which you can follow along with on page 219 if you happen to have a hymnal available.  Otherwise, please work through the different elements of the service one after the other.  .  -Pastor Gray

If you would like to send in an offering, as the church continues to do her work during this time, their are a couple of options.  You can mail an offering into the church and you can also use the Paypal donate button that we have set up as well.  If you use this option the money comes right to the account for the church.

 Opening Hymn: 737 Rejoice, My Heart, Be Glad and Sing

O Lord, open my lips.
And my mouth will declare Your praise.
Make haste, O God, to deliver me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Venite

Antiphon:
O God, be- | hold our shield,*
     and look upon the face of Your a- | nointed.
For a day | in Your courts*
     is better than a | thousand. (Psalm 84:9-10)

Psalm:
How lovely is Your tabernacle, O | LORD of hosts!*
     My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts | of the LORD;
Blessed are those who dwell | in Your house;*
     They will still be | praising You
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house | of my God*
     than dwell in the tents of | wickedness.
The LORD will give grace and | glory;*
     no good thing will | He withhold. (Psalm 84: 1-2, 4, 10, 11)

Psalm 119:9–16

Beth
[9] How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
[10] With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
[11] I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
[12] Blessed are you, O LORD;
teach me your statutes!
[13] With my lips I declare
all the rules of your mouth.
[14] In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches.
[15] I will meditate on your precepts
and fix my eyes on your ways.
[16] I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word. (ESV)

Sermon

Te Deum

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Kyrie

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

The Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Collect of the Day
O Lord, keep Your Church with Your perpetual mercy; and because of our frailty we cannot but fall, keep us ever by Your help from all things hurtful and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

The Litany (a pamphlet version can be found here) It can also be found on page 288 of the Lutheran Service Book
The Prayer of the Church

The Collect for Peace.

O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, You have safely brought us to the beginning of this day.  Defend us with your might power and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger, but that all our doings being ordered by Your governance may be righteous in Your sight; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
℟: Amen.

The Benedicamus.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

The Benediction.
The grace of the Lord ✠ Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with us all.
℟: Amen.

Closing Hymn:  895 Now Thank We All Our God
